To connect and lead the global membership into a unified community to represent its voice and enable them to achieve a shared vision.

The Shia Muslim Council of Australia (SMCA) is conducting a survey to collect information on the Shia Community in Australia. This anonymous information will assist us in planning programs and directing community resources to where they are needed most.

Information on the size, distribution and characteristics of a community’s population is essential for describing and assessing a community’s economic, social and demographic circumstances and for developing sound policies and programs [in such fields as education (Islamic and Secular), employment and manpower, business, family planning, housing, health, welfare, social, and marriage etc.].

We request all members of the Shia Muslim community in Australia complete and distribute this survey to their entire community in order to collect this data.

What does the Census mean to me?

Your input will inform the community and leaders about the needs of the community. This will help community leaders with planning and setting priorities. It will also help inform engagement with government and media in order to advocate for the community’s needs.

Who will have access to our Data?

This survey is conducted in compliance with Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Please read the following information carefully:

  1. Anonymity and Confidentiality: This survey is completely anonymous. No personally identifiable information will be collected or stored. Your responses will not be linked to any individual, and all data will be aggregated for analysis purposes.
  2. Purpose of the Survey: The data collected will be used solely for the purpose of data collection. It will not be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
  3. Data Retention: Any responses collected will be retained for the duration necessary to fulfil the purpose of the survey. After that, the data will be securely destroyed.
